This was a nice way to get to sand and sun from the Northeast in January without having to fly. We were able to drive to New York and leave the car at a hotel parking lot for the duration of the cruise. We treated the ship as a resort that traveled to a new beach every day. The ports were definitely the best part of the cruise. Barbados was the most beautiful and Dominica was the most unspoiled.
The ship, as always, had it positives and negatives. The first thing that stands out is that it is huge. The staff spoke of 4600 passengers on this trip. Sometimes they did a good job of spreading the load but other times it was obvious that we were stuffed to the gunwales.
Some of the positives:
The bump-out balcony was great. it was at least 50% bigger than a regular balcony.
The cabin was big enough with lots of storage space and a well designed bathroom.
The decoration was plain. A lot of beige made it look like a medium price motel room more than a cruise ship cabin but it was perfectly acceptable.
It was equipped with a refrigerator and a coffee maker that was replenished daily by the steward so we could have fresh coffee without having to wait for room service. A nice touch.
The major issue was the location. It was quite far aft and fairly high up on the ship.
The music from the late night dance parties on the aft deck could be heard past midnight some nights.
