We have cruised on Princess, Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Clipper ships and now Norwegian. We always considered Carnival the lowest of them all until we sailed Norwegian. From our room steward to the wait staff it couldn't have been more under par. We had the drink package for unlimited alcohol and were very excited about it. However, they get around the package by not having enough wait staff to support the drink package. On other cruises you have so many waiters cruising your pool chairs trying to get you drinks, on this cruise you were lucky to see one waiter every 30 minutes, then you wouldn't get your drink for another 30 minutes, then you may not see them the rest of the day. Very poor service.
Our room steward left dirty dishes in our room from the 1st day of the cruise until the last day of the cruise. The only way they would disappear is if we would put them in the hallway. We didn't get a towel animal until our 3rd day on the ship, when other people we were sailing with received them daily.
Dinner service was awful. You had one waiter for about 6 tables. Every part of dinner took forever. I don't think we ever got out under 2 hours. You had to beg for a drink waiter to come around. Food quality was not good.
Terrible room steward. Didn't remove dirty dishes, didn't put away our luggage after they were emptied, didn't give us a towel animal until the 3rd day, had to continually ask for new towels, worst experience on any cruise ship.
Best time of the whole cruise.
We rented a cab and toured the island independently of the ship packages
