Sail Date: Aug 2015

I have done three other Viking River Cruises. My first disappointment was with the Air Dept. with British Airways chosen as the airline of choice to get to Paris from Denver. Because the pilot decided not to depart Denver on the designated day and had to wait for a part to fly in from London, I missed one night and a whole day in Paris. In the future I will make my own air arrangements.

The stateroom on the lower decks is relatively small but well maintained by the housekeeping service.

What disappointed me the most was the fact that when you reach a port of call and step off the ship, Viking Idun, it sails on to the next docking point. When I did the Elbe cruise some years ago, the ship would stay at the dock all day so you could do your own tour of the port of call and then return to the ship. But on this cruise, coaches were used to move the passengers around on shore excursions. And we would be driven to the next port of call at the end of the excursions.
