We flew down to FLA two days prior and stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Airport/Cruise which offered us free transportation to and from the airport and pier. Its a nice little hotel close to shops and a very good german restaurant, Old Heidelberg. When we arrived at the pier on Sunday, the whole process before boarding took us almost 2 hours, we actually had to sit and wait in a holding room for quite awhile, finally being allowed to get on the ship and go to the Windjammer for lunch. When we went to our cabin I was very happy, because this was our first time opting for a balcony. It was so wonderful to have that extra space to enjoy the sea air and views, the balconies really are quite large, with very high guard rails. Now as for the bed let me say that the mattress was great, firm and queen size with extra pillows. One criticism of the cabin would be lack of drawers for clothes. Bathroom is fine for average size folks, but shower is round and small and has fantastic water pressure which never ran out of hot water. The steward assigned to us was sweet and truly seemed to care how our days were going while traveling on this vacation. I will also say that the ship overall is beautiful ofcourse, its not even a year old yet, and is designed much like the other RCCL ships in this class or near this size. The best part of our experiences on the ship where dinners with our group of friends, the meals where quite tasty and the service as always was excellent. We also enjoyed several of the shows provided onboard, our least favorite was the dance group, the best being the ice show and the comic on the first night was a very funny guy. Our days cruising were spent by the pool or napping, eating lunch twice at Johnny Rockets, which is better in my opinion than eating in the Windjammer, one thing I would say is don't wait till the last day to eat at Johnny Rockets, because most people seem to wait until then and there will be a long wait for a table. Our ports of call were Belize, first and me and my husband did the Major Tom's Cavetubing which we booked ourselves via the internet. This was a ton of fun and well worth the $45 each. The excursion does take all the day and the drive to the caves (rain forest) is almost a hour. The second port was Costa Maya, and here we went with our friends to a little cafe/bar on the beach called Charlie Browns. They had buckets of beer for $10 and very good tequila for $5, the chairs and umbrella tables were free to use. I will say that its not the cleanest beach I've seen and also pretty rocky. There were lots of shops with very aggressive venders to barter with if you choose, we each bought a few souvenirs. Last for us was Cozumel, here we found another beach to relax and enjoy the day, we had wonderful weather this whole week. It was called Playa Palancar, here we did some snorkeling and walking on the beach. A few negatives for us on this cruise, first.(I hate to say) rude disrespectful teenagers, who had no regard for others. As an example, when getting into an elevator one evening, there were several boys sitting on the floor of the lift, they didn't want to get up to make room for others who needed to get in as well. Then I can't tell you how many times we heard the F word used in normal conversation. It seems that many (not all) parents once they get onboard just set their kids free, so they can be rid of them and party themselves. It seems that there should be more control or at least a way to police this part of the ships population. Second disappointment was the food in the Windjammer its not that great. Hope I haven't rambled to long, but all in all we will cruise again most likely.
