Wonderful does not do justice to the recent voyage we shared on the Solstice! There are so many superlatives to give this ship and her crew! Our cruise started out with a flight to Ft Lauderdale on Valentine's Day. Upon arrival we checked into the Hampton Inn, which was very nice to stay for the few hours that we were there. They have a free shuttle (take a cab.....we waited for nearly one hour! ) Other than the shuttle, the staff was friendly, although the rates in South Florida this year are just incredibly high! Next morning, we stopped at Total Wine to buy two bottles of wine (Celebrity allotment) as we generally find that the wine lists on board are not very good. We were going to be surprised!
Embarkation onto Solstice was very quick and we went to our cabin (checked in after 1:00 p.m ). We booked an Aqua Class Cabin and were very happy with it. Now these cabins are the same as the Concierge class and some other cabins, but do come with some upgrades. The iced tea every day, fresh flowers, canapEs, bottled water, plush robes, slippers, etc. accentuated a really nice cabin experience. The bathroom was laid out well with a truly great shower! Since these cabins were designed by women, they truly had the touch, especially the bar for placing your feet to shave your legs. The cabin itself had plenty of storage space for a 7 day voyage, and, I believe, for longer voyages. The pillows and the bed itself were very comfortable and we probably spent more time resting in bed than we should have (but needed to). Our cabin steward always had our room in pristine condition and was never obtrusive at any time. I, for one, was perfectly happy not to have all of the little towel animals all over my cabin each night. We spent some time on the balcony and found the furniture to be very comfortable for its space.
