I must be living in a parallel universe or incredibly lucky but six of us just got home from this cruise and had the time of our lives. Yes, I am sure it helped that we were in penthouse suites; but the employees we encountered were so friendly and helpful, and we found the ship to be very nice, although it almost took an act of God to find the spa.

The worst part? Our fellow passengers! People at the buffet could be very pushy and some we very rude about getting on the elevators. Most people we encountered were great but some apparently think that being on vacation means no manners...yikes!

Our shore excursions were great. Lahaina is a lovely seaside town to visit, zip lining in Hilo was wonderful. Our guides were very safety conscious. I rented a GoPro camera so we could take the action home with us. We took the Captain Zodiac snorkeling adventure and had a great time. The ride gets wild on the way back because they come into the coastline so you can see the caves and the beautiful action of the waves; it was good fun. I don't swim but never felt unsafe. I used a noodle for flotation when snorkeling and it was better than a life preserver. Spinner dolphins swam with us part of the way back. When they jump out of the water they spin; great!

Cabin Review

Penthouse with Large Balcony

Cabin SE

So glad these were refurbished a couple years ago. The pictures on the NCL website need to be updated. Those old cabins were hideous. Huge balcony, very large bathroom with two sinks and jetted tub. Robes, slippers and umbrella provided. The cabin was a good size with a comfortable king bed. These cabins can sleep up to six with the sofa and Murphy beds but that would be crowded. Butler and concierge service very nice. Bulgaria creams, shower gel and lip balm in bath along with cotton balls and q-tips. Be warned; only one plug-in and it's up high!

Port Reviews

Maui

We all took the bus to Lahaina and had a great time. It is a charming town with beautiful views. Under the great banyan tree local artists were displaying their work. Everyone very friendly.

Hilo

I don't like heights, but I did this and had a blast. They are VERY safety conscious. They start you out on what they call bunny runs first. They are smaller, slower, lower lines so you can get used to it. I was the first one off and was scared but after the first couple of runs I was excited to get going. The scenery was spectacular. Halfway through we stopped for exotic fruits and water then on to the last half. There are eight dual lines, the last one is half a mile long. They say don't go on this excursion if you have back or neck problems; the crappy road up the mountain is the main reason. We were told to buckle up and it's a good thing. We were slammed all over; I thought I would walk away with compressed disks in my back. The ride back the driver was more careful and it was better but still pretty bumpy. Rent a GoPro camera to catch the action but make sure you are looking around your arms.
