I am an active middle-aged solo traveler Elite level Princess cruiser with more than 28 cruises on this line. The pricing was good (except for charging solo guests double fare for single occupancy!). Excellent boarding and debarkation processes, very quick and efficient.
Main issues were with the cabin, which had barely working AC the entire trip and was not fixed despite repeated pleas to many departments. Far too hot in my cabin for a tropical itinerary. I was told by crew that this problem had existed on previous cruises - so why didn't Princess fix it before now?? There was no cold water in shower or sink the first 36 hours of the cruise, again very slowly and indifferently addressed, but finally resolved somewhat. Lights in cabin were dim yellow. One lIght fixture in bathroom failed, was reported, and never fixed completely. Safe worked, but to open it I had to pry it open with my fingernails - handle was missing, and was reported and never fixed. Telephone would not delete messages, and blinked red lights for two nights until it was replaced. Had to ask for clean glasses in cabin, and once the wastebasket was removed and not replaced. I had to find my steward and ask for the thing to be replaced. Holes in bed linens, and black spots and stains on pillowcases. Very scratchy, threadbare towels in bathroom. Black mold on toilet seat lid and clothesline in the shower. Dirt and dust in corners of the cabin furniture.
Extremely loud music in atrium totally ruined any attempts at civilized conversation in that area, especially at Guest Services, whose crew could not hear the guests and vice versa. Calls from my cabin to guest services rang on average 25 times before being answered, and then I was put on hold for at least 15 minutes a few times before getting smart and just going to the desk, inconveniently, in person.
Tired, worn furniture and faulty AC as described above. Thin walls let in a lot of noise from the corridor. Tiny, moldy bathroom.
Enjoyed a secluded, tiny beach I walked to (4 miles) on my own. Lots of friendly roosters and chickens on the beach, which was shaded by tropical trees. Other than nice local families, nobody else was there and it was a peaceful tropical paradise with bathtub-warm blue ocean water. Worth the walk, and wonderful.
Lots of shops and places to eat, looked very tropical with palm trees. Did not tour, so can't really comment on the amenities of the area, just what I saw from the limo to the ship.
