Embarkation in San Diego was a breeze. We upgraded the week prior to an SA suite through our travel agent so that accounts for a bit of speed. (Bargain upgrade)
We had 3 people in an SA suite and it was fantastic. Large suites with HUGE veranda and amenities. Largest bathroom I've ever seen & plenty of closet space. Neptune lounge access was fantastic. Other perks were good buy with only 3 ports in Mexico the priority tendering and such was not a big deal.
Crew was fantastic and were very accommodating when my mother was a bit queasy the first evening on rather rough seas. Cabin stewards were wonderful & the new bedding on HAL is great.
Wonderful weather on our trip so much time in the sun. Lots of areas to escape onboard including the library when its a bit chilly outside. Spa & fitness center are great and massage was well worth it.
Food was good overall. Wonderful seafood. The lido eatery is a bit chaotic but food is pretty good. Pinnacle grill is very good & our SA level let us have breakfast there each day which was fantastic. A few sketchy meals and the last evening dinner with dining room staff celebration was not impressive. Salad was terrible & baked alaska was more like a Foaming Rhode Island.
Ports were good. Mazatlan leaves a bit to be desired but a climb to the lighthouse on a sunny morning is great. PV was nice and the scuba diving was a bit chilly but worth it. Cabo is the best with sun & wonderful restaurants and beaches.
Furniture & carpets were a bit worn and Oosterdam is headed for a refurb this spring. Wonderful ship & crew so we would search out this class of HAL ship for a European cruise. Huge bargain to Mexico for 7 days. If you can swing the SA suite it makes it even better.
