My wife and I took our first cruise a few years ago on Carnival. A year later another Carnival cruise. The following year a 14 day cruise to Hawaii with Princess. This year we chose Norwegian and cruised to the Mexican Rivera on the Jewel for 7 nights.
We checked in at the San Pedro terminal and compared to the others it was very quick we arrived at 12:45 and were in our very nice balcony room by 1:30. Our steward was named Orson, he was very cordial, tended to our needs with a smile and made these two old cruisers smile with his towel folding skills.
The ship is 10 years old but very well maintained and I enjoyed deck 7 the Promenade as it was an open deck and circled the ship. My wife and I stay away from the exotic foods or those that you can't pronounce the name. We ate lots of salads, fruit, some amazing fresh bread and the ready made omelets and oatmeal were great. We dined at the buffet all but once and decided to try Chins. It was ok for Norwegian Chinese.
Very comfortable, made coffee in the room and the bed was very nice. We love the balcony.
Fun worth the money.
Wife was terrified of falling or running someone over, she didn't, all was well
The Malecon along the ocean is awesome
