Not all of my complaints come from the ship itself, but have to do with how Royal Caribbean manages its company. My group of 16 started at the airport in Houston where there were shuttles to take us to the port in Galveston. Princess and Carnival were also doing a similar shuttle service, they had big signs and desks pointing their cruisers right to them. Royal Caribbean had a small desk with no signage, managed by two soft spoken older ladies trying to manage a rather large and noisy crowd. After we found where the Royal Caribbean desk, we were distraught to find that even though they had 100 passenger charter buses, they were only putting about 20 passengers on at a time. Once we finally reached the port terminal, there were two port workers that were extremely rude, using profanity toward members of my group. I didn't hear the whole story that prompted these remarks, but never is such language warranted.
Once we finally got on the ship the cruise was relatively pleasant. The staterooms were bigger than the rooms I'm used to on my other cruises (Celebrity) and they also felt more modern. We ate at the formal dining room every night, and the food was mediocre. Some nights it was very good, some it was just average. The one night I ordered a steak it had no sear and was very over cooked and had no seasoning.
Something I wasn't used to was the last 2 nights of the cruise, the wait staff all did a little song and dance at the end, I can't say that having a "show" with my dinner really enhanced my experience, it just lead to longer wait times to get my water refilled.
