We were a group of 6 couples who took advantage of the 2 for 1 deal offered by Viking, cruising the Meditteranean from Venice to Istanbul on the Viking Star. For most of us, it was a first cruise on a smaller ship and we were not sure what to expect. The Star's crew and the ship itself met and exceeded our expectations. The ship is state of the art in its technology and appointments. From the consistent wifi on board to the clear, concise updates of all our daily activities to be found on our personal accounts, to the beautiful computer graphics of varied Viking journeys to be found on the coffee tables in the stunning atrium, the ship is first class all the way.

The staff and crew were solicitous, courteous and took care of any requests we had expeditiously. For example, when we requested a special meal to be prepared for us to celebrate a festival, they not only obliged but outdid themselves in the thought and care they put into its preparation. Dining options were plentiful, with several restaurants and cafe's offering varied options.

Shore excursions were timely, informative and varied. Since the ship docked early in the morning and was in port most of the day, there was ample time to do one or sometimes two excursions per day.

Cabin Review

Very well appointed and spacious cabin and bathroom. Amenities such as bedside USB ports, accessible lighting switches, large closet and several drawers in bedroom and bathroom, king sized comfortable beds, are a mark of very thoughtful design and extremely efficient use of space. The bathroom was much more spacious than is usual on a cruise ship and the veranda was of the perfect size to accommodate two people comfortably. In addition, the love seat and desk provided additional seating and work space. Internet service was very good and the television channels quite adequate and very informative.
