Just back from a cruise around the Caribbean on Britannia.
I thought the crew on board were all great with maybe one exception - that is Reception. I've seen this before on cruise ships that the worst people working in personal contact and the most unhelpful are given jobs on reception. Must be a peculiar quirk of the cruise industry in general.
Food. The food in the Horizon Buffet Restaurant was great both morning and lunchtime. The breakfast could be better if warmer. It seemed on occasions that the only really warm plates were only to be found next to the salad bar! I was not overly impressed with the dishes served in the Oriental Restaurant in the evening. The chefs seem to invent lots of fancy names for what amounts to vegetable slop for the main course. Having tried the "fancy food" I settled mostly for the steak option as this came with unspoilt vegetables and the chips were superb. One night I tried the chef's special lobster but I think this was overcooked and then spiced up to give it back some semblance of flavour. Quite the best main course was the "Fish and Chips" with mushy peas. Much better than the local chippy.
The Cabin - adequate size though the bathroom is a little small. The glass shower screen is great in that it doesn't try to give you a hug in the morning but a curtain does give that little extra space for useful application of a towel.
The balcony is about large enough for seating around the small table but I was surprised to see a large rust patch in the corner (D226). After less than one year! The ship will look like Adonia in another 12 months.
The cabin steward - Emily was very efficient and helpful, keeping the cabin well. Great service again.
Good walk up to the fort. They did tell us you can smell the spice. All we could smell was diesel fumes
Great for sightseeing
Great tour
Great walk along the bay. Take the water taxi
