No matter your attitude regarding crowds, the Oasis of the Seas is a fascinating ship. You board the ship through a mall by a bar that raises itself and lowers itself like an elevator at various times of the day. Inside the mall, they have an English pub (my fav!), a champagne bar and various cheap eating establishments that make it very inviting though loud. Because RCCL had overbooked the ship that we had reserved, the Independence of the Seas, they put us on the Oasis and upgraded our cabin. Not bad at all. Our suite had a nice sitting area, a very comfortable balcony with lounge chairs and table with seating, a walk-in closet, a full-size tub and shower and really comfy beds. All clean and inviting. Basically, a place you'd want to be.

However, there were some downsides. The ship is so big, it takes at least four days to figure out where you are and need to go at any given time, and I found myself walking a number of blocks a day just to go eat. The number of people in the Windjammer in the morning and dining room at night was just horrendous. They also ran out of wine in the dining room every night we were there so rarely got what we wanted.

The food was also hit or miss; I just didn't think the selection was that interesting. I highly recommend the specialty restaurants, though, as they are totally worth the upcharge. In spite of the nightly GLBT gathering, hardly anybody came as there were very few gay men on the cruise and almost no single gay guys. The drink packages on the boat were never worth it. We drank expensive drinks every night and never drank enough to warrant the premium package, according to my calculations.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D8

Nice, comfortable room in general. Loved the comfort of the couch. Balcony was very pleasant, and I enjoyed feeling the breeze from the sea.

Port Reviews

Falmouth

Very mediocre, potentially unsafe bus ride to the top of the mountain to have tea. Staff were irritating, unclear directions were given by the company concerning where we needed to go to get back down the mountain. I enjoyed seeing everything, though.
