Having been on multiple Caribbean cruises the destination of Britannia wasn’t as important to us as experiencing a cruise on a brand new ship. It is a lovely girl and everything is clean and new, even the carpets are still pristine despite being a neutral ‘greige’ in all the cabins and lots of public areas. The fitting was I believe done in Italy and it certainly lacks a lot of taste in that it is very blingy and Versace-like. There appears to be no real wood but a lot of plasticky substitute.

We had an inside cabin which in the Caribbean is all one needs as most time is spent outside onshore or on deck…however long days at sea in the Atlantic would be a bit different I suppose. The beds were comfy and the bathroom excellent, with a real largish shower with a glass door, no plastic curtain to stick to you….the toiletries are as usual of good quality (The White Company) and the towels large and fluffy. Very nice. The TV in the room was a huge plasma with lots of free movies, TV progs and radio…my one gripe was the cabin lighting which was fine but appalling when one wanted to sleep while the other read…there was no individual reading lights! Why not who knows. Tea and coffee making kettle in room as usual on P&O is a boon and one of the reasons we choose them as often as we do... Steward was a peach, really cute.

The food to us was amazing for mass catering, and the people who moan about it must be Michelin starred chefs or ultra fussy fusspots of the first fusspot order (apologies Blackadder). Every day a different curry, roast dinners, Mexican, Italian, Chinese, Thai, soups, salads galore...The Horizon was our go to for most of our meals, the standard was so good. We were on Freedom dining but the service was slow, waiters surly etc. Did Beach House in the Horizon as well, great lava rock fillet steak for £5 extra. Wines OK prices, as were cocktails and the bar staff were really most pleasant. Tea and coffee were of the finest quality and available 24 hours.

Cabin Review

Cabin inside twin

Fab but no personal reading lights. All on or off. Most irritating.

Port Reviews

Antigua

OH played golf while I drove the golf buggy along with another couple. The best fun I have had in a long time, weather superb, buggy new, would recommend even though it was around £100 all in.

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

Wanted to have a day out to a plantation house...lovely
