After reading Cruise Critic before our cruise I was very concerned we were taking our family on their first cruise and it would be a disaster. Don't believe all the negative comments about this ship. It turned out to be a wonderful family experience for all of us. We are a retired couple in our late 60's and have sailed with Holland America (excellent) and Princess (very good) on a few cruises. Legend of the Seas is an older ship but still in very good condition internally. We were in cabin 7580 which was a large balcony cabin in comparison to the equivalent cabins on the Princess ships and the shower was to die for, our whole family all commented on their shower experience on the 7th deck. We had a frig and a jug to make our tea or coffee, which is not always available on other ships.
The staff were all very friendly, our cabin attendant was very efficient but not intrusive, our table wait staff were brilliant and treated our granddaughter as a special person. The entertainment was good and the food in the dining room was very good. The internet package worked well for us but like all ships it was a bit expensive.
Unlike previous cruises we saw the Captain every day, he would have breakfast in the buffet and walk the staircase chatting to the guests, a very friendly person. He had to make an important decision on our cruise to avoid a cyclone and made a televised explanation to give us the facts of the situation. This was upsetting to some guests as we had to miss Fiji but within a day or so everyone seemed happy with the decision as we experienced a bonus stopover in Champagne Bay.
Good size, plenty of hanging space. Balcony railing could do with an upgrade.
