Having cruised several times before, we were really looking forward to this trip on the Island Princess. While we had a good time overall, we were totally disappointed with the ship. There were too many passengers for the staff and the size of the ship. Anything we tried to do was overwhelming. On one shore excursion, we were herded into the theater as usual, but we sat there for a long time then were sent out onto to the dock and had to stand there between two ships next to a refueling truck. Then when we returned we had to sit on the bus for an hour (no exaggeration) waiting to get near the dock to wait again to get ported to the ship. Our meals were long drawn out affairs, with a slow wait staff. Many times we wanted to get their attention, but never saw them again. Our cabin was fine, bed was comfortable, bathroom small, closet nice sized and we had a wonderful steward (thank you Qi). The ship itself needs a lot of work. Rusting, worn out looking, carpet dirty. Walking down a hall one day we walked under an overhead light that was leaking water like it was raining, water was also coming out along the molding, carpet soaked. We did notify staff about this. Embarkation was a joke but disembarkation wasn't too bad. I will have to think long and hard before I would consider another Princess cruise.
