Our fifth cruise, 4th with NCL and 2nd sailing on the Breakaway (last on this ship unless a different destination).
I’m glad we did not let the negative reviews discourage us from sailing on the Breakaway to Bermuda back in August 2014. (see review published 8/14/14). However, wished we had taken into consideration the reviews for the Bahamas cruise more seriously. It’s by far the worst itinerary we’ve sailed on! We chose it based on convenience (leaving out of NYC), time of year (Christmas) and previous great experience on the Breakaway.
Ports: Arrived at Cape Canaveral, Fl at 2pm (supposed to arrive @ 1pm) it was past 2:30 by the time we were allowed to leave the ship. Captain gave some silly excuse for the delay. Really? Monday afternoon we were sailing by the Carolinas, yet it took over 24 hours to sail to central Florida, if we drove it would only have taken 9 hours! Not much options for this area of Florida, can’t really enjoy the beach in the late afternoon when the sunsets at 4:30pm, Disney or Universal studios or Kennedy Space Ctr. (do both on steroids since you have to be back on the ship before the 9pm sailing). Chose not to take an excursion, instead ventured off on our own. Due to the ships’ delayed arrival there was an extremely long wait for shuttle service & taxis. Took the shuttle into Coco Beach just to walk around, on the way back taxi driver told us delayed arrival at Cape Canaveral is quite common for NCL. Waste of a port day.

Missed island due to high winds
Made our own reservations for a day pass at the British Colonial Hilton, in walking distance from the port. $60 gets you access to the pool, towels, beach and includes $40 credit for food and beverages. For souvenirs check out Straw Market and Bay Street for Duty Free Shopping
