This is just a beautiful ship !! Our balcony cabin was perfect. We had the beds pushed together and they seemed much bigger and the cabin looked roomier. The bathroom was nice. The deck was nice. The flat screen TV and wonderful bedding was appreciated (after the Dawn's less luxurious surroundings". The forward cabins are close to the shops and the main theater (where much happens). But, the cabins from the middle to back of the ship are closer to dining areas if you don't want to walk far. Food was good. I recommend the buffet for breakfast.... the buffet or Blue Lagoon for lunch.... and the buffet or the Summer Palace for dinner. I do not recommend Indigo it is always crowded, noisy, and the service is not as good. If she is still there, ask to be seated where Agnes is serving.... you will not be disappointed with her excellent service. She is very efficient and attentive. Shore excursions were great! We liked Altun Ha in Belize... it was not over-crowded, and easy walking. You can also climb to the top of a high temple via stairs at the side. In Roatan, Honduras (our favorite) we visited Gumbalimba Park. The monkeys and macaws were fun.... the Pirate Cave is a man-made cave more for children... and the grounds/flowers were beautiful. You could stay longer to relax on the beach, or stroll through the grounds. Buses ran every 20-30 minutes to return to the ship. This was relaxing and fun, and we got lots of pictures! Cozumel was nice, but the trip to Tulum involves a long boat taxi ride to the mainland, then a long bus ride to the ruins. The ruins ARE impressive, but there is more walking and LOTS of people visiting these ruins every day. (That is why I liked Altun Ha.) You cannot climb on these ruins in Tulum. Great Stirrup Cay (*NCL's private "island)is a small cove where you can safely get into the water. Snorkeling/swimming are great... water is warm. NCL brings a picnic ashore, and there are games if you'd like to participate. Lots of beach chairs, too. Entertainment was good at night..... variety. If you are a NightOwl take something white for their White Hot Party night in the lounge. Pool area is nicely arranged. Latitudes room has windows that hang out OVER the water! Friendly ship !! I especially recommend this ship for repositioning cruises. My daughter and I were on it for 19 days (inside cabin!) on the repositioning cruise from Seattle to Miami. Few children, and lots more activities. You get to know everyone.... repositioning cruises are my favorite type of cruise! I liked that cruise so well that I chose this ship again for my husband and I to see the Western Caribbean. I also liked the Western Caribbean ports better than the Eastern Caribbean. Excellent captain.... Lars, from Scandinavia. He was also our captain for Alaska and the repositioning cruises. Very personable, and an experienced Captain ! I can't really think of anything really bad about the Pearl..... it should please everyone... all ages !!
