We got advance notice that boarding would be delayed due to the outbreak of norovirus on the two previous cruises. They were "deep cleaning" the ship. No objection from me, and they continued cleaning all during our cruise; constantly wiping down all handrails, doors, walls, etc. They installed special hand-washing machines at the entrances to each eating venue, and posted personnel to be sure no one skipped them. No one was allowed to touch any serving utensils except crew. It seems they did all they could to prevent illness.
My embarkation problem was with luggage. We arrived in plenty of time, way before our revised embarkation time. One suitcase arrived in our cabin within 1/2 hour of boarding, but the other took 4 hours, and we got it only after asking where the heck it was.
A word about the ports. I dont expect much since it is Mexico after all. Things seemed safe enough, but we were nervous ashore anyway. They cancelled our excursion in Puerto Vallarta, they said due to the ship leaving too early with all-aboard at 4 PM. The excursion, Las Caletas, is our favorite and we were very disappointed. One would think they would have timing figured out. We went whale watching in Cabo and Shrimp Feast in Mazatlan, both of which were very good.
The cabin was fine with one BIG exception. On 4 different days, we had to complain because the toilet would not flush. The last time it took them over an hour and 3 re-calls before someone showed up! Very aggravating!
The room stewards were great.
The skipper kept boating around until he found a whale, very exciting! Snacks & open bar were great!
Held at a private home with a nice yard, it was 4 or 5 different kinds of shrimp, all delicious. Lots of yummy margaritas & tequila tasting were included.
