This Getaway trip was our 5th in about 2 years. I never imagined it could be better than our last - but it was. This is NCL's "Happy" ship and all staff we encountered exemplified a job well done in succeeding in making us very happy. Jovo, the AMAZING Hotel Director and his OUTSTANDING Assistant Hotel Director, Tom always made themselves available to guests. Their willingness to spend time with us (and others!) to chat, share stories, and laugh made this trip so very special to us. They really should be trainers for others in the NCL fleet as they are terrific examples of what "above and beyond" customer service is. In addition, their crew including Tanberg, O'Neil, Anil made us feel like we were home again. When my mom saw O’Neil from afar as we were boarding the ship, he opened up his arms to her, exclaimed “Welcome home!” and embraced her in a warm hug. There is nothing that can compare to the hospitality by these men and others on this ship.

Our waiters (Elvis, Lenoy, Renoy) were attentive, efficient, and always welcoming. The Maitre D’s (Hari and others!) were amazing…always going around to tables to ensure we were all having a terrific meal. Ricardo P. (Executive Chef) remembered my mom from other cruises and even came out to say “hello” to us at one of our dinners so we could specially thank him. Marites (Executive Housekeeper) was terrific in communicating to her staff that it was my cousin’s birthday so they could decorate his room. We had the best time at the Ice Bar with her and the crew. (The drinks were sooo good!) There are so many others to list, but you get the picture…amazing people on an amazing ship. THEY are why we are loyal to NCL – they remember us and treat us like family. Let’s hope that the company recognizes their greatness just as much we do!!

Boarding/Disembarking: A breeze. We practically walked right onto the ship with no line or waiting. We didn’t have to wait for our room to be done so after lunch, we went right in. Our luggages came so quickly we didn’t have to wait at all. We didn’t want to leave the ship so we were one of the last 100 stragglers disembarking (our own choosing).

Port Reviews

Great Stirrup Cay

We had the discounted shore excursions package so went on this tour when we normally would not have. It was nice...the guides were super friendly and worked at keeping us engaged by diving into the ocean to bring us different little specimens which we got to hold/take photos of. Educational, relaxing, and a nice way to spend some of the day.

Ocho Rios

Beautiful surroundings after a bumpy ride into a rainforest setting. There was much more food (tapas) than I expected so that was a pleasant surprise as we got to taste different local foods. There is a very long and steep climb to the restrooms.
