This was supposed to be a review of our Christmas Cruise to Cozumel, Rotan and Belize. As it turned out it will be a review of our 7 day cruise to Cozumel.

DW and I (late 40’s) took DS (18) and DD (16). DW and I had a very nice entry level balcony cabin on deck 14 and the kids were in a nearby inside on deck 12 (there is no deck 13). While we are all veteran cruisers, this was our first Princess cruise, with most of our previous cruises on Carnival and Royal Caribbean. In the review, we’ll draw a lot of comparisons with RCCL’s Voyager class as that is where most of our recent cruising history has been and the prices and age on Voyager/Freedom Class and the Princess Grand class ships have are relatively comparable.

We drove up from our home on the TexMex border a day ahead of time, having received very well communicated notice of delayed embarkation due to Noro clean-up in our e-mails, text and voicemail. We were fine with the revised schedule as we had a late check-out in a very nice suite at the Clearlake Hampton and had 3D-IMAX tickets to see BB-8 and light sabers the night before. We drove up exactly when we were supposed to show up for the revised embarkation and were promptly diverted to the now infamous holding lot at Bayport. They kept us there for about an hour, which would not have been so bad except:

Port Reviews

Houston

Princess treats local TX passengers like 2nd class citizens when this port gets over-crowded.

Cozumel

We love Cozumel and had a great Scuba experience at Chackakanabb both 3. But CB had a very poor debark here so we were very last to the park and all beach chairs were taken, Day was too short.
