Our Eastern Caribbean cruise was fantastic! It was our first cruise with HAL, but have been on several other cruises with Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Princess. I chose this cruise for my 50th birthday to spend with my husband. There were a few pros and cons to the cruise mentioned below.
Pros:
-Fast Embarkation and Debarkation due to being organized
Cabin was nice. We were in the aft section of the ship, deck 8 Navigation Deck. Balcony was a good size. On occasion we might hear some chairs being moved on the Lido Deck above us.
We slept very well in this room and recommend it. We wish we had a larger tub though, it was rather small. Love the robes, we ended up taking two home with us for about $49, they are very soft and cozy! You can have them monogrammed for a small charge, but need to let your steward know 48 hours in advance, which we forgot to do. The mini fridge was convenient and the tv was nice and large unlike other ships we have been on.
Loved this port!! We took a long walk and it rained but it was still fun! We ran into a Bodega and had a Mojito. We went by historic sites and stopped in at various stores. I got a great deal on a beach coverup and my husband got some t shirts that were great quality. Such a beautiful city, I want to go back!
So much fun! I wish we could have stayed longer. We took a water taxi over to a beach that was beautiful. There were people selling items on the beach, but not too pushy that we were able to still enjoy it. We bought a few necklaces and other items. I thought it was convenient since we didn't have much time at port and I didn't have to shop for souvenirs, I could just do that lounging on the beach.
We rented a clam shell and lounge chair, which we really didn't have to do because there were plenty of lounge chairs. I was worried it might be too hot so I rented the clam shell for about $20, better safe than sorry. The water is gorgeous, the beach is amazing. My husband went over to the pirate ship bar and brought back 2 mai tais which were delicious. We wish we could have stayed here longer as well. The times in the ports were not long enough for us.
