We booked this New Year's river cruise about 6 weeks before embarkation. All of the information arrived timely. The Hilton Riverside was perfect as the pre-cruise hotel. The embarkation went smoothly. The luggage was transported from our hotel room to our stateroom without incident and delivered timely.

The stateroom was a little dated but of adequate size and comfort. The bathroom was roomy, especially the shower. The room attendant was attentive. She was there mid morning and late afternoon with fresh towels The beds were comfortable enough, and the TV and closed circuit radio provided in room entertainment. The selection of channels was okay although they should have a business channel.

Because we signed up so late, only late dining was available. It took some adjusting to eat dinner at 8. We were at a table for 6, but rarely did we have a full table. Our table mates utilized the buffet on the third deck forward on several occasions. On certain nights we dined alone and on others, stragglers from early dinner filled the table. It was somewhat annoying but don't know what can be done. We have had the same experience on ocean cruises with late seating. Notwithstanding, the food was good, the service provided by two young ladies was excellent, the wine cups kept full. We did not experience any of the concerns voiced by prior reviewers with surly staff and inadequate supplies. Some of the wait staff in the morning at open seating moved a little slow, but so do we.
