This was our 3rd time on the JADE. The nightmare started in the port when embarking. Horrible "system" if you can even call it a system. No one seems to know what is going on, lines everywhere and no order to it. The cabin was fine, nothing special. Not thrilled to find a dirty towel in the closet on the floor, candy under the table and a shoe under the bed. The worst of the cabin was that our shampoo dispenser kept falling off the wall and when it was refilled, soap was put in in place of shampoo.

We chose the cruise for freestyle dinning but found it was the worst. Wait for seating for dinner was up to 2 hours and worse yet was sitting through 3 hours just to get dinner. Tried all the restaurants. Jasmin the worst but the two main dinning halls were no better and very loud. Food was ok but nothing to rave about. Staff generally was rude and unhelpful. I had the impression this was the first cruise for most of the staff as they were very slow and didn't seem to know what they were doing. Every meal order in the two dinning halls was messed up. Ordered rare steak but got well done, no salad dressing and it came with loads of extra sauce, ordered fish but got pork.

The kids club leaves something to be desired. My 14 year old was looking forward to it after having good experiences in the past on the Jade, but after 2 attempts never went back. The staff was rude and down right unpleasant. The ports had little to offer. I hoped that being a holiday cruise there might be something of interest but that certainly wasn't the case. Why does a cruise even stop in Honduras??? Tendering was a total nightmare. Three hours to get a ticket, board and get to shore. We also were not honored for the level we should have been with Norwegian and had to fight for the amenities which were finally given to us the last two nights of the cruise.

Port Reviews

Belize City

We hired a local guy right outside of the port. He was great and had all kinds of good info. Took us to the ruins and back through the city. Took us to both good and bad parts of town to give us a feel for the place. Very nice. Met some locals, tried some homemade wine and went into a local store, not touristy. Fun day. The locals were all great.

Roatan

No clue why any cruise ships even stop here. Warnings everywhere about being mugged. Told not to take anything with us. Had people constantly offer to "protect" us for a fee. Dirty and over priced. The locals try get every last dollar out of you. A bowl that in that part of the world should be $3-5 will start off at $90 and even then maybe come down to $50. It was crazy how all everyone wanted was money money money. Waste of a port day!

Cozumel

Hired a driver and drove a loop around the island. Nice way to spend the day.
