Here is my review of the Carnival Cruise on the Freedom this year for Christmas time.
Brief History of my travel experience: I have been on 4 cruises separated out in 10 years, with 3 being on Carnival. So I am an occasional cruiser. I enjoy it immensely for the value and the fun, but have other vacation interest. I have stayed top of the line to bottom of the barrel in my travel experience. I am not too picky of a traveler and judge places based on experience and what they offer.
Departure: The Galveston Port has really come into its own as far as getting Cruisers on Board efficiently and with ease. Carnival’s new staggering system that you chose when you want to check in makes the process easy to go thru. We chose the noon check in and arrived at the Port by 11:30am. Dropping off car at parking, dropping off luggage at the port, and going thru the various lines (with online check in previously done) got us on the boat by about 1:15pm. Not bad. Didn’t feel like the lines moved too slow. Tips for parking. If you want to be dropped off in a shuttle or have covered parking, make arrangements with a parking service well in advance as covered parking is a nice add on.
Cabin was nice and well kept all the time. View was nice looking out the front of the ship.
Did Cozumel on our own. Nice town if you like Mega Resort Areas.
Did this on our own to West Beach. Was beautiful and had a blast. Highly recommend this beach as it has access to the beautiful reef.
Great day of cave tubing and atv tour. Word to the wise. Don't do zip lining as it will eat up most of your day. Do it at another port.
