we did enjoy our hamilton/cairns cruise, yes we were plagued with bad weather, the flooding in certain areas/staterooms i believe is an ongoing problem, and one which appears to be near impossible to rectify...the staff do their best, yes some of the wait staff are a bit standoffish, but our cabin guys were wonderful..

food in the pantry is mediocre and my suggestion would be to have snack food readily available till at least 11pm, most cruise ships have 24 hr food...i do not agree to paying extra for this service.

we were on this cruise for new years eve...because of the bad weather we encountered and we were delayed getting into cairns for 6hrs...the captain put on open bar for new years eve from 6pm-12.30am...this to me proves p&o do care about their passengers, those who bought premium drink package got that day refunded, plus we also got free credit towards future cruise...very generous i think..overall it was ok
