Each year I take a cruise with some of my cousins, and some of their cousins. This year we sailed Westerdam.
We live in Southeast Georgia (Near Savannah) so we decided just to leave out early and drive down I-95 to Port Everglades instead of spending the night in Ft. Lauderdale as some of our party did.
We arrived at the port very early 8:00, so I knew that we'd have a few hours before check-in or embarkation. It was rather hot and there is a lack vending machines before entering the terminal itself. By about 9:30 porters had picked up our luggage and by 10:00 we were inside the terminal with much needed air conditioning and the aforementioned vending machines. Staff from the ship was also handing out "lemonade" to those of us waiting in the terminal.
Being single and therefore paying a supplement I generally stay with Interior rooms. Holland has several classes of interiors with I being one of the largest. While the rest of my party were staying in Verandahs on the same deck I had far more space with a full sized sofa and an extra chair for other guests. The room itself is decently laid out, but compared to other I class cabins I believe that this one was converted from other space a few years after Westerdam was launched. The space was well utilized and I have no complaints.
