Well, Ive been on several cruises with NCL and Carnival and to several ports. But this cruise was The BEST!!!! We stopped over in Fla. then to Great Stirrup Cay and lastly to the private island in the Bahamas, Nassau. I guess, it was the best for a combination of reasons, first the embarkation was smooth and swift, having priority check-in helped as well. The ship was kept very clean by the crew, they do work hard, the inside stateroom was very comfortable, but small. Me and my fiancee' had enough room and space for our things, though.
The food was delicious, because there was more of a variety and was cooked really well. The shows were OK, but there was one particular show that was exciting, to me, during the cruise. The weather was beautiful all week long, especially in the Bahamas. The best part of the cruise for me and my fiancee' was the Lagoon Beach at Great Stirrup, its a private island on a private island, therefore there werent many noisy kids running around. And they served "free" lunch in the Pavillion and also had a walkup Bar. We rented a clam which was amazingly fun; convenient and "COOL".
I would recommend this cruise on the NCL Gem, but just make sure that you look at the Brochures that are in your room. That's how we found out about Lagoon Beach. There are (2) other private islands/beaches at Great Stirrup Cay as well. Look into into if you get a chance. Happy Cruising!
Small, but roomy enough for all of our things. Large enough to move around. We only just slept in there anyway.
We embarked in NYC and it was easy to get to and to locate the ship and our check in was smooth; quick and easy. Not much else to say because Im from NYC.
It rained a little but didn't last very long. So we didn't get off the ship. We just enjoyed the empty pools and hot tubs.
Private Beach on the island of Great Stirrup Cay; quiet; peaceful; relaxing and enjoyable time. This is what made the cruise the Best for Us!!!!
