Check-in was a breeze, literally. We walked into the terminal around 11:00 a.m., walked straight up to the counter (no waiting AT ALL) and got our Sea Passes. Then we waited in a lounge area for about 5 minutes before they allowed everyone to board. We were on the ship, deck 12 by 11:20 a.m. Lunch started being served at noon in the Windjammer, we did not show up until 12:30 or so and found it difficult to find a place to seat b/c our fellow cruisers would finish eating and then just sit at the table taking it up instead of eating and moving on to other public places. Probably the most irritating thing about the cruise was inconsiderate fellow cruisers.Staterooms were accessible at 1:00 p.m. and with check in being so fast and easy and the Windjammer being so crowded I think next time we won't rush to get on the ship. Our room attendant kept the room in tip top shape. I had given her some Valentine chocolate on the first day and she thanked us by keeping our room tidy, even though we hung our towels, she replaced them with fresh towels every day. Our baggage was delivered to our rooms fairly promptly, we were able to change into dinner clothes well before our 8:45 seating. Debarkation was smooth and on time, and the weather in Ft. Lauderdale could not have been any better, hot and sunny! Our cruise experience was overall good, food was good considering the number of people that they needed to feed (3,350 passengers on our cruise). The weather completely cooperated with our trip, we had smooth seas except the night after Jamaica and sunshine the whole time. Grand Cayman was a great diving spot and on the first sea day enroute to GC be on the lookout for Cuba, you can see it from the ship. Jamaica was fantastic and after visiting it I cannot believe anyone has reservations about visiting it. We hired a tour guide and his sister drove the taxi. We asked to see the "real" Jamaica and not the tourist spots. If you get the chance you must see Jamaica for what it is, a tropical paradise filled with very poor people who, though poor, LOVE their country, are proud to show their country to visitors and show them hospitality and a good time. We saw some beautiful spots that no shore excursion would ever bring you to. Also saw fire water, water naturally heated by methane gas (we assume b/c there was no sulfur smell) and you can light the water on fire. If you ask the cruise ship about this I doubt they will know anything about it, we drove up the mountainside to a desolate, shack filled neighborhood and that was were the fire water was. I highly recommend visiting Jamaica, there is no worry, mon. Places on the ship that you must visit: The helicopter pad, I have never been on a ship that allowed passengers to go all the way forward, there is even bench seating. The Viking Lounge, say hi to DJ, he makes the best drinks, is Jamaican and has that great laid back "no problem, mon" vibe. During the day you'll have the best view from the Viking Lounge 14th deck. For cigar smokers, the Connoisseur Club. The young lady monitoring/waiting in the Connoisseur club is well educated on cigars and liquors (scotch, brandy, ports, etc.) Very nice as well, it was a pleasant evening each night we stopped by. Also, do not miss the Ice Dancin' show, wonderful. And for adults only "Quest" if you have never played you MUST attend...that's all I can say :-) One major complaint is that one of my bottles of Sangsters Rum Cream (I checked in 4, 750 ml bottles after Jamaica) was missing. I received only 3 bottles of Sangsters and 1 bottle of Old World Banana Rum Cream. Next time I will make the crew member checking in bottle write down EXACTLY what I brought on board. So, if you buy liquor on shore, be sure you get back what you brought on. Food was good, but nothing fantastic. Service was excellent. The shows were good and there are lots of activities to keep you busy on board.

Cabin Review

Cabin was adequate only problems were that the safe did not work and was never fixed though we reported it on the first day and the mini fridge did not cool, at all.
