This was my second cruise on Epic and I had high expectation of it being of the same high standard as my cruise in June 2014. I had booked some ten months in advance and in the Summer my son and his family decided to join me from their home in Dubai.

Problems began when the flight from Heathrow was changed from 8a.m. to 6.20 a.m with British Airways. All documentation stated we had to be at the airport three hours prior to departure and on arriving at 3.15 a.m. found that the B.A. check in desks do not open until 5 a.m. so had to stand in a long queue for nearly two hours. I was then told that wheelchair assistance (which I had pre-booked) would not be available until 5.45am - had I sat and waited for this at the check in desk there was no way I could have got through security and to the gate in time. I therefore had to walk and with my mobility problems this was a huge effort and very tiring. On arrival at Barcelona I could not fault the arrangements made for wheelchair assistance at the cruise terminal and I was on board by 10.45 and able to meet up with my son and his family who were waiting for me in one of the lounges.

I had a studio cabin (12539) on Deck 12 and my steward Woody was excellent. He kept the cabin spotless throughout the cruise, was efficient and very friendly at all times. Although small the cabin had plenty of storage space and was ideal for a solo traveller. My son and his family had a family balcony on deck 13 (13146) which was very nice although a little cramped when the bunk beds for the twins were down of an evening. Their steward was also very efficient.

Cabin Review

Studio

Cabin T1

Ideal for the solo traveller. Plenty of storage. Very comfortable bed. Mood lighting intriguing. Cabin steward, Woody, was efficient, friendly and very helpful.

Studio Lounge area - a real bonus. Open 24/7 and a great place to meet up with other solos. Tea/coffee/hot chocolate, pastries and snacks available all day. Bar open in early evening

Port Reviews

Malaga

Did the Malaga Experience - good value for money as it included entrance fees to major attractions along the routes, boat ride, walking tour and free tapas en route!
