I have been on many cruises with thousands of passengers. Too hectic, so we decided to take a leisurely cruise on Windstar's Star Breeze. Our transfer from hotel to the ship was smooth and expeditious. We left San Jose, Costa Rica, December 19. For the first day and a half, life was leisurely and more than I expected.
On the third day, our sister ship, Star Pride, hit an underwater obstacle and began to list. Our ship was ordered to the rescue, which was fine. However, Windstar seemed to forget about the 169 passengers on board Star Breeze. All excursions were canceled. Water sports were canceled. We were refused WiFi service to call relatives.
We got scant information from staff. While Pride crew and passengers evacuated to our ship and transferred to another port, we were, in a sense, "captives." We could not leave the ship. We had no outgoing phone or email service. There are almost no planned activities on board, none were created, so we were stuck WITH NOTHING TO DO. More than 100 passengers signed a petition requesting the same compensation given to Pride passengers. So far, we are waiting for a response.
EXCELLENT. Spacious. Clean. Our steward was fantastic.
WE had to walk more than a mile through a rain forest, heat and humidity. Fatiguing. The zip line experience was fantastic.
