Enjoyed 9 days on the Serenade. It was our 7th Royal Caribbean cruise. Service and traditional dining were good. Wait staff were energetic and pleasant. Embarkation was a breeze. Airport, hotels, port, restaurants are all top flight and convenient in Ft. Lauderdale. Cabin is well designed, ship is a little lacking after experiencing some of the amenities on larger vessels. Entertainment was mediocre. RC singers, dancers and orchestra were great, but we only saw them twice. Headliners were so so, and their shows were scheduled after 10:00. We prefer the early show times. Loved Lorenzo the guitarist in the central lobby. Cruise Director was above average - didn't go overboard selling things or trying to deliver his own comedy routine, and I appreciated that they've scaled back the photo peddling. Windjammer was OK, but scrambled eggs were terrible. Really amazing how bad they were. Otherwise, food was enjoyable, and the egg problem will surely improve. Ranger Coconut Cookies were irresistible. Ports were Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao and Key West, and they were all fun. Excursions were: Sunset cruise in Aruba, beach break in Curacao, bike tour in Key West. All were fun, but on hindsight, I would skip the beach break and spend more time walking around Curacao. One of my companions had a problem with his Sea Pass card, I managed to get double charged for the wifi package, and they lost one of my bags when we disembarked. But these things happen, and at each instance the RC staff was attentive and responsive to the problem and resolved the issues quickly. And BTW, very pleased they've reinstated the wine packages.
Bottom line, we got good value for our money and continue to prefer RC cruises.
Well designed. A/C good. Steward was very attentive and helpful.
