Sail Date: Dec 2015

The Serenade is smaller than most ships we've sailed on, but it became one of my favorites. It's a beautiful ship that is easy to get around without a long schlep from fore to aft. Our cabin was typical of RC and clean and well appointed. As always, there was plenty of storage. All the staff on board was friendly and helpful except perhaps for our room steward. He introduced himself the first day, and we never saw him again. However, as mentioned before, the room was always clean and neat. Our waiter and assistant waiter, Robert and Patric, were especially good.

Sadly, the food wasn't as good as he service in the MDR. Several of us at the table ordered fish, I believe cod, and we had to send it back because it wasn't fresh. Some table mates ordered the lobster tail and received one tiny lobster tail that had maybe five bites. They had to request a second meal of prime rib. I ordered the prime rib which was excellent. We had a few breakfasts at the Windjammer, and they were fine.

We enjoyed all the islands, especially Key West. The Truman White House and Hemingway House were very interesting. Our only complaint was the RC tour, the city trolley. They said it included 13 stops, but they didn't say that many of them were hotels away from the downtown area. The stops were not that close to the attractions, and one time we had to stand and wait 45 minutes for a trolley. Never again!
