I have been on 2 other Norwegian cruises, and I was thoroughly disappointed with my experience on the Getaway. The cruise ship is big, but doesn't have the facilities to handle the amount of passengers on board. I have been on the Allure and Oasis of the Seas with Royal Caribbean, and although these ships have many more passengers, I felt that this ship was much more crowded. It was impossible to get a lounge chair unless you went out early in the morning, restaurants were packed, and the staterooms were tiny. I went to the gym 4 times and was only able to get a machine once, and even when I did, there was somebody breathing down my neck the entire time asking when I would get off.

We were in a mini suite, which was basically the same as almost every other room on the ship except for the haven. It was teensy, although it did have a lot of storage space. In the dining rooms, the service was awful, often times with an attitude. The stateroom attendants were very hit and miss. Ours was ok, but our friends' was awful, not even cleaning the room entirely. With the amount money spent on this cruise, we were horrified by the experience. We waited an hour and a half for a tender from the port. Entertainment was mediocre at best. I have a severe food allergy, which I do have to say was handled very well with the exception of one dining room.

Cozumel

I had fun at a beach club, the standard one that the representatives advertise on the beach.
