Hubby and I wanted a quick getaway to celebrate retirement. Love the fact that we can board at the new terminal in SanFrancisco and don't have to fly. I think that is the major consensus on this cruise as most passengers were from close by the bay area or at least from California.
Food and Service have improved since our last cruise on the Grand Princess last year. Food quality is much better as is the service. Maybe new management or something, but glad they changed. Had the best time at the Princess Disco Love Boat party! It brought back many memories of years gone by and is probably the best Deck Party we have ever attended on any cruise since my first in 1977.
We did not take any shore excursions since you can walk to town from the pier at all stops. Santa Barbara is wonderful and San diego is great. Even Long Beach has merit if you like to see the Queen Mary (free with your cruise card) and Submarine within walking distance.
We booked 3 weeks before so there were not a lot of options. We got an obstructed view cabin. We were pleasantly surprised! Not much of an obstruction at all. Bed was really comfy and cabin was spacious especially with the deep windowsill. Shower had good pressure and temp. control. Would definitely book this cabin category again.
We love San Francisco and come here quite often. I personally think sailing into the bay under the Golden Gate Bridge is one the most beautiful ports I have ever seen from a ship.
Walked to the Queen Mary and Russian Submarine. Took the free shuttle around town but decided not to get off the bus.
Took a cab to the zoo and had a wonderful day!
What can I say? We walked around town for a bit but not much to see but a lot of souvineers.
