On our trip, December 12-19, we hoped for the best. We had a wonderful time on our honeymoon cruise in 2011, but had a horrible time on a shorter cruise in 2012. We thought we would give Carnival another try. We had an ocean view room and it was nicely decorated for my husband's birthday. The room was clean and the steward was very attentive. However, the first night on the ship, there was no hot water in the sink or the shower. We called and they sent someone to fix it. They claimed no one had the room on the previous journey and it needed to be flushed. Fine. The next morning, the shower was only scalding. You could not get it warm. It took multiple calls to get someone to fix it. Finally, about 11 at night, they replaced the thermostat. They offered us a free night in the steakhouse (but then later made it for the wrong night and we had to discuss it with the steakhouse hostess). We had one excursion to Sapphire Beach. Carnival did not provide enough transportation to this location and we waited for 30 minutes in the parking lot. The woman who owned the transportation group didn't get us a bus and argued with us that it was Carnival's fault. Okay, so we had enough time at Sapphire Beach. The accommodations were a little lacking, but it wasn't terribly expensive as an excursion and we made the best of it. On the return from Sapphire Beach, the transportation never arrived. The man who took us would not answer his phone. We waited 45 minutes in another parking lot and were bitten by biting gnats. We had welts the next day. The dive shop operator was very helpful, but there was not much he could do. We did receive 1/2 off the excursion price. The dining room we were assigned to was over the engine and was like sitting on a washing machine. We switched dining rooms after speaking to the manager. The steakhouse was outstanding, having dined there twice (once for my husband's birthday, once for the trouble with the shower). The food in the buffet was disappointing. The burritos we ate had tiny chicken bones in it. It was either cold or soggy tasting. The burger joint was okay, but how many burgers can you eat? All in all, we would not repeat the experience. We did not want to complain and we don't, but with no hot water and a crappy experience with the excursions, it leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

Cabin Review

Ocean View

Cabin 6A

The cabin was clean and very neat. The shower was not working two nights of the 7 days. Our steward was attentive and tried his best to deal with the issues with our room.

Port Reviews

Grand Turk

Grand Turk was a beautiful beach.

San Juan

We took a brief bus tour for $10 of the city. Not anything to write home about.

Half Moon Cay

We had fun on the beach.

Miami

We used Faster to the Fun and we appreciated being first on the ship with more time to hang out before embarktation.
