We made Diamond Plus on this 10 night cruise, so we have been on a lot of cruises with Royal Caribbean. However we found that this was one of the worst we have ever taken. The food was mediocre at best in both the Windjammer and the dining room. The first morning we went to breakfast in the dining room. It took over an hour to get our food and then it wasn't even what I had ordered. I felt really bad because there were some people at our table who had never cruised Royal Caribbean and they said they never would again. We heard that they had over 100 new people working in the kitchen on the cruise, and that might account for part of it. We enjoy the Park Cafe which was in the Solarium and went there for lunch the first day. The food was okay but they seemed to be really understaffed and the woman working in the salad area was always running her legs off trying to do everything. Also they had mostly small tables with two chairs and often people would take the chairs to another table to play cards, so there wasn't any place to sit. Two different nights the ice machine was broken and they did nothing to provide ice for anyone after the shows. I asked them if they could get ice from somewhere and they just looked at me and didn't answer. I went to find one of the bars to get ice, but none were open on that deck. I called guest services who said the pool bar was open on the other side of the deck and I could get ice there, but it was closed too. When I went down to guest services I was told I could get ice at the bar across from them. I told them I had already gotten ice from there. In the past cruises on other ships,if the ice machine was broken they would put out ice in a bin with a scoop to use. While they did provide ice tea and other cold drinks they aren't really cold without ice. Twice they had no cups or glasses during times they were open. I asked for a "to go" cup and was told they didn't have any. If there was any other place open we could have gone there, but the Windjammer closed at 8 p.m. and the Park Cafe was the only place open, except for the bars and nightclubs. We had My Time dining and were able to get a table early at 5:30 but not at 6 or 6:30 p.m. when we wanted. The food in the dining room was not up to par with other Royal Caribbean ships and service was really slow. One night we were seated and it was about 20 minutes before a server even came to our table. The shows were okay but nothing really great! On the plus side, our cabin steward was great and he did everything he was asked, and went above and beyond to meet our needs. But the beds were not comfortable even with an extra pad. The Diamond Lounge was fine too after the first night when there were no seats to be had. They started checking IDs at the door so people wouldn't be there who weren't Diamond status. Also on the plus side it was very easy and quick boarding the ship.

Port Reviews

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

We have been to St. Kitts before but it is a very beautiful port

Tortola

First time to Tortola and it rained for a while, but it was refreshing not to be accosted as soon as we got off the ship to take a taxi tour or tour of the island

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Home port for us. Quick getting onto ship. I think it helped that we left on a Friday.

St. Maarten

Didn't take the water taxi and heard the power was out in the city but we love St. Maarten
