While we have sailed with Celebrity Cruise Lines several times, this was the first cruise on the Infinity and what a disappointment. The service on the ship was far below Celebrity expectations. The ship is older as is not being kept up to standards i.e. 2 of the 6 hot tubs did not work although they were filled with water. etc.

Most disappointing was the fact that we planned ahead for side trip as we had only 6 ports other than the beginning and the end port. At 2 of the ports our planned side trip were canceled hours before they were scheduled, being too late to enroll in any other side trip that was of interest. In a 3rd port the side trip we signed up for was to be a 5 hour tour. It ended up being about 2 and 1/2 hours and of that time about an hour was spent waiting for our tour guide and bus to come back. The tour ended up being just a drop off and pick up and was $ 125 per person. A big rip off. Despite the fact we had spent several thousands of dollars to take the trip and planned to see numerous things in the various ports, we were not able to do that because of Celebrity. The staff in Shore Excursions and Guest Services are of absolutely no help. Some will perhaps listen, but in effect they will do nothing. The favorite express when we complained was "we have the right to cancel anything at any time". I disagree with attitude as I believe if Celebrity Cruises entices people to go on cruises by publishing what they can see and what side trips they can go on, and the customer pays for the cruise based on this, they should be obligated to conduct what they promised. Sure Celebrity may loose money on a particular side trip , but look what they are making on others and don't they have any loyalty to customers who have paid for the cruise?

Overall the food and entertainment were both downgrades from prior Celebrity Cruises. The Main Dining food has become like "comfort food",and like food that is served on more inexpensive Cruise lines. If you want a decent dinner on Celebrity you were encouraged to go to one of the Specialty Restaurants that cost several extra $'s per person. They encourage everyone to do this over their Main Dining by promoting it a breakfast and lunch other various occasions each day.
