Sail Date: Dec 2015

We had not sailed on HAL since 2002. Our last two cruises were with Celebrity so we thought it was time to return to an old favorite. We loved our Signature Suite. Very large and comfortable. Our room stewards were great.

The ship is getting a little worn and needs some refurbishments. We enjoyed the buffet especially the stir fries. The main dining room left us cold. Slow service, little choice and repeats of menu selections on a seven day cruise. Most evenings after checking the menu we ate in the Canaleto or Pinnicle Grill, which were both excellent. I loved the burgers at the Dive In, but my husband found them dry. We chose anytime dining and were told we could reserve our table and time as preferred. Every time we attempted to reserve we were told just to come by, which we did, however more than once we were unable to get our a table for two.

Since we had been many times to all of the ports on this cruise we did not book any shore excursions. We did enjoy the pool and beach at Grand Turk. We took the free tram around Old San Juan....a great way to see the fort and city. Crown Bay in St Thomas is not great. Seems far from Charlotte Amalie, with a few of the shops seen throughout the Caribbean. The day at Half Moon Cay was overcast and we experienced a few rain showers. We did walk around the island and it appears to be a nice venue.
