My wife and I sailed on the Carnival Sunshine with 3 other couples out of Puerto Rico December 9. We flew in the day before and boarded around 1 p.m. There were no lines and it was the fastest boarding we have experienced in the 12 cruises we have taken. They publish that boarding starts at 2:30 p.m. but we heard that they actually started at 10 a.m. We all thought that the food was great. We always sample most things on the buffet the first day before we settle on what we like best and then stick with those things for the rest of the cruise. If you can't find things on the buffets that you really like, you have a problem. Our favorite part of the day was dinner. We tried many different starters and entrees and found that 90% of them were excellent. I tried holding back on the eating but ended up gaining a pound a day. Service was excellent.

Entertainment was super. There were several comedians and all but one were great. I usually don't get excited about the dancing/entertainment shows in the main theater but the 8 dancers were the best we have seen--so much energy! The hypnotist, juggler, and psychic were all very entertaining.

We had balcony room 6130. We have never had a room on a cruise that we didn't like. Our room steward did an excellent job as always. We had no trouble getting around the ship after the first couple of days. My wife always makes us use the stairs for exercise. The workers were constantly seen cleaning the ship. The only problem we had with cleanliness was with passengers that didn't pick up after themselves.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin 8A

Nice cabin. Lots of space for clothes and other articles.

Port Reviews

San Juan

We had previously seen the fort so went to the Condado beach which was nice.

St. Thomas

We have been to St Thomas several times so just walked to town and shopped.

Martinique

Went to Mass at the Cathedral. It was in French but interesting. Many places only take Euros--no US.

St. Croix

Nice island. Seemed cleaner than some of the others. Did a lot of walking.

Grand Turk

Catamaran/snorkeling/rum punch excursion. First time snorkeling and it was one of the highlight of the trip. Saw lots of fish and great beach. Be careful of the rum punch--it goes down easy and has a delayed reaction.

Antigua

Did Segway tour booked independently. Great experience--never been on a Segway before and it was a great way to see the island
