This trip was actually two different cruises - one 11 day, and one 10 day to the Southern Caribbean. Luckily, other that beginning and ending of both in Ft Lauderdale, there were only two "repeat" ports. RCI just doesn't do LONG cruises, even though the number of "back to back" cruisers indicates a market for long cruises especially during the cold months when retirees look to be away from the ice and snow of the northern states and Canada
Embarkation at RCI's new terminal #14 was seamless, however it took 4 1/2 hrs for luggage delivery. In comparison to other lines, RCI does very poorly in this area and when you complain, Guest Services thought that 4 1/2 hrs was SOONER than normal. Something is broken here.
The trip was in all respects the usual RCI product. RCI is one of the "bottom feeders" of the industry along with Carnival and NCL Every time I go cruising on RCI I find more and more aggravating "up selling". On this trip they were in the process of taking the internet café and coffee lounge seating area on Deck #5 away from passenger use and converting it into a New Cruise office. Over the past few years all sorts of passenger lounge space has been eliminated to cram in more cabins, and more "revenue" space.
Embarkation/Disembarkation only. Pouring rain on the mid cruise turn day precluded leaving the ship
Has changed into nothing more than a shopping mall experience. Ship docked at an auxiliary pier necessitation a 1/2 mi walk to Cruise Terminal and NO shuttle was provided. Thus elderly and infirm, unable to walk that distance over cobblestones were precluded from going ashore. Another example of RCI's usual refusal to spend on passenger comfort etc.
The best port of the 10 visited - not yet over run by ships
Too many ships and people in port
RCI stops at a remote Cruise Terminal while other lines take the more coveted downtown pier
Again - over run with ships and people
Cruise Terminal located far from downtown
