Sail Date: Nov 2015

Although my wife and I are not seasoned cruisers, we have sailed on the Eclipse a couple of years ago, and enjoyed the experience. We thought it would be nice to try a Transatlantic crossing, even deciding on a back to back cruise, adding on the Caribbean for a little winter sun before flying back from Miami to London. The dining from Southampton, we found to be more our taste than the slightly changed menu of the second cruise, but as always, to a very high standard. The Service is exceptional, but they do try pushing the speciality restaurants at every opportunity at a "special price". Not great when you have paid for a 5 restaurant package before hand.

The ships activities/excursions information made good reading on a night, although we couldn't partake in many of the activities or indeed the entertainment, as my wife is Deaf. Celebrity do not seem to cater for the deaf or hard of hearing. Even a lack of subtitles on the cabin TV meant that we had to make do with a book. I thought this to be poor. That said, we enjoyed the excursions that we had booked, although one had been cancelled on the second cruise, but no one thought to inform us, by email or otherwise.

Since returning home, we have started looking at future cruises with Celebrity, although it would be a deciding factor for us if a different cruise line were to cater for the deaf and hard of hearing.

Port Reviews

Boston

Very informative and well planned.

New York (Manhattan)

Perfect night for the tour. First stopping at Manhattan bridge, the empire state building, finishing off in Times square. Well worth the cost of the trip.

King's Wharf

A ferry ride from the dock takes you across to Hamilton for $5 dollars, so we didn't think it was worth booking a trip on the ship. King's Wharf has some interesting shops if you are looking for gifts/t-shirts. Enjoyed Bermuda but wouldn't rush back

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

Wow, the third time I've been to Cape Canaveral but the first time to the Kennedy Space Centre. A dream come true for me, and the series of lectures on the transatlantic crossing, gave me much more of an insight.

Southampton

We sailed from Southampton, after traveling down the night before, and staying in a hotel by the dock. We could see the ship from our hotel window, with the town just behind us, handy for the last minute essentials (Nail varnish remover) that my wife had forgotten to pack., made the embarkation very easy. There are plenty of places to eat and drink cab's to get you around.
