Preface.... we sail often, are interdenominational cruisers. That said, Celebrity has attempted to establish itself as a 'premium' product. The Solstice class ships, the Reflection the newest of, definitely fits the bill. The ship is gorgeous, as are accommodation's. The general dining, and all the ship services a few years back, more so fit the bill. Fast forward..... competition, profit maximization has tainted this some.
I sense overall ship service support has been reduced, as primarily shows up in the main dining room and definitely in the bars. This line traditionally has been very good, too good to fall prey to this. Here's my theory. Celebrity, as are all cruise lines, are pushing their guests to 'added value', hence requiring added fees, charges, etc.as seen in offering specialty restaurants, dining, beverage and excursion packages. That said here is what we experienced.
'Free Beverage Package'... drink up..... but try to find a bar tender.... All the bars were woefully staffed. Is this by design? Hmmm..... read many of the recent posts and you hear the same thing. Then the quality of the drink.... Main dining room, 'vanilla' menu.... big step backwards, average 'cruise' dining room food, big falloff. Service staffing, spread out, limited floor stations, long walks to/from kitchen, mistakes not always rectified. What's up? And.... the chocolate lava cake.... the size of a donut hole! Are they pushing me to specialty dining for a substantial up charge. What I read, surmise, RCL, parent company to Celebrity is pushing to get out of the main dining room business.... you decide.
Concierge class on da 'bump' Nice location near elevators. Also larger balcony. Amenities bit upscale, snacks delivered before dinner.
Hadn't toured the island in over 10 years. Tour was good, not a lot to see short of going over to French side for 45 minutes.
