Have cuised 10 previous times but this was first caribbean cruise. Don't know why it took me so long. December is a great month to visit Costa Maya, Belize city and Roatan. Roatan was like a free excursion because we spent the day at Mahogany bay and beach club as a princess guest at no charge. Could have spent several more days but itinerary was just for the day. We did the Mayan ruins excursion at Costa Maya and it was ok. Did the city tour at Belize city and learned a few things about the history of city and country from guide, a local (ok). Anyway, as far as the ship was concerned, the Caribbean Princess was spacious and although sold out on our voyage, never seemed crowded. Lots of good deck space on 15 and 16. We spent two late mornings and early afternoons underneath the skywalker lounge area at the aft pool. Hardly anyone there so naps were abundant. Which leads me to the adult area, the sanctuary, princess should consider allowing as a perk for platinum and elite guests, the use of the area as it was abandoned every time I passed it. Too much premium real estate there to not be used by someone. The full day price of $40 seems a bit steep and passengers were voting with their wallets. Also, the fitness center was in greatest demand when they opened up at 6 a.m. however about half the equipment was flagged as not available till 8 a.m. Seems like that was backwards to demand. I usually came back at 8 and most of the center was empty then so I had my pick. The dining was quite princess, very good. Breakfast and lunch was at the Horizon grill. Always a good selection. We choose anytime for evening meals for the flexibility but usually ended up at our favorite dining room, Island around 8 p.m. The matrer'd was very accommodating and held a table for us next to the window after the first night. It always helps to generously tip him for this niceity. Wait staff very good, tip helps here too. Food excellent. No complaint. Cabin E228 was an obstructed window cabin, but the view was still good. (See my photo) We have cruised in each cabin type except window and we thought it had just as much space as the balconies we have had previously. Inside cabins are a bit cramped and there's no immediate way of checking conditions outside so we've decided to rule these out for 7 day cruises. Suites and minisuites-balconies are great and we've had both, but we like to go on more trips now so the window option proves quite adequate and affordable. Embarking and disembarking went smooth as we have priority boarding anyway, but the airport transfers left a lot to be desired. Too slow. A word of advice, take a cab as it would be much quicker and about the same price for 2-3 passengers as ship transfers. Plenty of cabs at airport (Hobby) and at port (Houston). Overall, it was a great trip and value. I'm ready to do it again.

I took a picture out the window. I'll see if I can upload here somewhere. Overall, it was a great room and location. Good value for $399 pp. 7 day cruise. BTW, I couldn't find where to post pictures. If someone knows how, let me know, I'll post the view out of E228. It actually was pretty good. I found I could post so it's here.
