I have previously cruised 4 times with other cruise lines, usually departing from Sydney. When we heard that a Royal Caribbean ship would be based in Brisbane, my husband and I decided to give the 2 night sampler cruise a go. We were hoping that this ship would be wonderful so that we could book future family holidays.
Unfortunately the check in system broke down the morning of departure, which then took us 2 1/2 hours to board. By this time we were very hungry and keen to grab some lunch. We went to the Buffet, and unfortunately this was very unappealing. We then met friends at the Pool deck and was keen for some drinks. The pool bar was very very busy and it took 45 minutes to buy some drinks. This was a common problem for the trip. The cafe was also always busy with people constantly cued for coffees.
Food in the main dining room was quite lovely, although service was not so good. After making reservations on both nights, it took over 30 mins to be seated. Wait staff did not show any initiative and didn't refill glasses of water for the whole meal.
Lovely cabin, quite modern.
There is no fridge in the cabin, so if you bring wine on the ship, you will need to phone your cabin attendant and ask for an ice bucket as well as wine glasses.
