Starting with the positives from our recent Caribbean cruise I must say the Jewel is a stunning ship. Some of our favourite areas were the atrium, the spacious and not too noisy nightclub on level 12, and the solarium with the perfect controlled environment at all times. The itinerary for this trip was terrific with 5 ports which certainly left no room for boredom. Of the ports the highlights were St Lucia which is the epitome of a Caribbean paradise and St Maarten with its great shopping and esplanade. We tried the 2 specialty restaurants and the standard of food and service did not disappoint for sure. Meals in the main dining room were also of a high standard.
So the negatives we really just the standard of entertainment which was below par. The cruise director was someone who thought he could sing a lot better than he actually can, and for him to think he can pull off a Neil Diamond tribute show borders on delusional. Really he should stick to cruise directing and RCI should pay real entertainers to provide entertainment that is of a standard that people want to see. The only other negative was that somehow they managed to lose the 4 bottles of coconut rum that they confiscated when we boarded in St Lucia. Sure we were compensated but its very disappointing when something this simple is screwed up.
Overall though I rate it a very nice holiday experience
Was a little disappointed with Barbados overall as not the island paradise I had heard about. This tour took us way off the beaten track but overall the stops were not particularly interesting so would not do this tour again
This island is the epitome of a Caribbean paradise. Tour was really good with a great guide and really showed us the best St Lucia had to offer. Looking forward to visiting again one day
Antigua is not the prettiest of places and many areas are very undeveloped. However the highlight of this tour was visiting the beach where one can swim with warm clear water with no waves, no stingers, no sharks, no rips. Give me that beach over an Aussie beach any day. And kicking back on a beach chair with a pina colada is really hard to beat and a million miles from care.
