This is an amazing ship! My girlfriend and I are in our late twenties, and we had a blast. I've sailed previously on the Norwegian Sky to the Bahamas in January, but this was a much longer vacation and way more expensive.
Dining. We tried to eat in the MDR as much as possible. It's much better to get an assigned time instead of your time. That way you're not on top of another couple. We met people through Cruise Critic, so we switched to their table. The rest of the cruisers at the table were awesome. The dinner wait staff was the only "okay" part of the cruise. They sometimes acted annoyed. Most of the time, they were just fine.
Embarkation. It was pretty easy. I don't remember any problems.
Carnival has a rightful reputation for its large interior rooms. Ours was much bigger than our interior room on the Norwegian Sky. The room was clean. Our steward was amazing. No problems whatsoever with our room.
We walked the boardwalk with all the shops and went to the beach. This was very fun and relaxing. St Maarten is one of the nicer ports like St Thomas.
We just walked around and explored by foot. Went to the top of a church, bought local food. Children were playing in the square. It was an awesome vibe.
This was one of the best tour I've ever been on. I can't believe how much I learned. I felt like I saw every corner of St Lucia.
The boatyard is a beach club party atmosphere. We rode wave runners, drank on the beach, they pour shots in your mouth, there's a rope to swing from. It's cool for that drunken beach day everyone needs at some point on a cruise.
Amazing tour operator. We saw the whole island, and we got an amazing history lesson. This made me fall in love with island tours.
We stayed 3 days in Old San Juan at the Sheraton. We booked it off Hotwire. The hotel was nice, but being off the cruise ship the costs racked up. Very good food. Festivals are amazing.
