This was our first cruise on the Pearl. We visited Cartagena, Panama Canal, Colon, Porta Limon, Roatan, Belize and Costa Maya. It is a beautiful, perfect sized ship, not too big or too small. The crew were mostly Filipino and all crew members were attentive and helpful.
We were only in Colon for 2 hours so only saw port. It was not worth getting off ship as there was very little shopping nearby. In Costa Maya, we visited Mahahual Beach which was filthy and smelly. I didn't see the rest of Costa Maya--hope it was better.
The cafe seems small for the amount of people but never seemed to be overcrowded. Maybe this was because they had a completely separate line for salads, and again for desserts. Beverages were set apart as well. They had a very nice ice cream bar with usually 4 selections of ice cream plus 4 more of sherbet and frozen yogurt...very nice! We liked the breakfast offerings and especially liked the outside back deck on the cafe. We ate most breakfasts there as inside seemed to be crowded. You can also take your food into LaCuchina for breakfast or lunch--nice if its rainy. The menu for lunch and dinner seems to need a lot more variety. It seemed to be the same fare every day. We didn't eat much lunch since we had upgraded to the better restaurants for all dinners. We thought it pretty silly that we were told we could only get cookies at night, but some staff got some for us anyway. Not everyone stays up for the later shows and entertainment. You should be able to get cookies in the afternoon if you want them.
Steward was attentive. Room was a bit small. The window rooms looked bigger--will opt for a window next time.
