Sail Date: Nov 2015

This was our 2nd time on the Conquest. We did back to back 6/8 day out of Ft.lauderdale (our favorite port), 1st time was 7 day out of New Orleans, and our 15th cruises overall. My wife and I cruise about twice a yr.

Embarkation: flew in night before late and stayed at a Days Inn w/ free airport/cruise port shuttle. Arrived at port around 10:45 and were able to board around 11:45. Cabin was ready by 1pm and we went to Lido deck and ate then the sports bar for a pitcher of Carnival's own Thirsty Frog ale until the safety drill.

Ship: showing her age but clean and well kept. We were forward on deck 8 w/ an inside cabin that was well situated. Public area were as we remembered though Carnival added a Guy's Burger on the Lido deck that was excellent. All the staff we met were smiling and seemed happy to be there.

Cabin Review

Interior

Cabin 4E

Standard cabin. We asked for and received an egg crate and topper that made the very firm mattress comfortable enough to get by.

Port Reviews

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Ft.Lauderdale is our favorite port as we love the beaches and the area.

Key West

Man made beaches were not that nice but the town is fun to ride around in. We are not shoppers so were mainly site seeing.

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

We love G.C. and usually take the public bus ($2.50 pp) to Cemetery beach (no services) and snorkel. Nice beaches and water.

Cozumel

Cozumel, while not a favorite port, is fun. We usually rent a car ($60 US) and drive around the island where we spend a lot of time on the windward side. Beaches there are dirty w/ lg amounts of debris (mostly plastic that floats). I wonder if they dump their garbage at sea? Beer is cheap when you get away from the cruise terminal.

Grand Turk

1st time here. Small island. We rented another scooter and snorkeled at Pillory and Governors beaches. We rode all around stopping in town for a cold local beer then back to port to shop a little. The beer/drinks are actually cheaper on the ship than in the port area. Margaritaville wanting $6.05 US for a 10oz beer.

St. Maarten

A very crowded island traffic wise. We rented a car ($33 US) and drove around the island both Dutch and French sides. We missed Orient beach as we spent too much time on Pinnel Isle. By the time we worked our way back to town and dropped off car it was nearing sailing time. We also stopped at Mullet Bay and snorkeled.

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

Rented a scooter for 1st time and rode to South Friars beach for beer and snorkeling. Was quite beautiful there. Rode all the way to Cockelshell Bay dodging monkeys then back up the coast to the botanical gardens and further until ran out of time.

San Juan

Have not been here since 1st cruise in 2003. We walked along the walkway to a cathedral then to both forts and the cemetery between them. Then a stroll thru town for a cold beer before back on board.
