I decided to take my mother on a cruise before she was unable to take another vacation. My mother is a stroke & heart patient. She is 65 and I knew if I didn't take her on a vacation soon I would not be able to do so as her health is slowly deteriorating. So I did my research on all the cruise lines and thought that Carnival Cruise Line sailing out of Galveston would be the best bet because of the close proximity. Unfortunately I was horribly mistaken.
The cruise started with trying to get my mother a wheelchair to embark the ship, even after I called and reserved one and Carnival assured that there would be one available for my mother when she arrived. Then when we were checking we were not given the bottomless bubbles package sticker for the sail and sign cards that I paid for. We then found out that they placed us in a restaurant that was way on the other side of the ship verses the closes restaurant, knowing that my mother can not walk long distances. We had to constantly call for a wheel chair; which was always late. When they arrived they all had an attitude of, "You must tip me or I am not taking you anywhere" Of course I was going to tip them for service but the outright attitude of the persons picking up my mother was just too much to bare. I've never seen such rude people in all my days of cruising.
The other problem with pick up service was that the cleaners kept blocking the corridors. There is absolutely no way to get a wheelchair through a corridor if the cleaning crew is still in the hallways. This is a major problem for disabled elderly. You have to hunt down the person that the cleaning cart belongs to and then you have to deal with their rude attitude when we ask them to move the cart so we can get by with the wheelchair.
The cabin was OK. If it wasn't for the balcony we would of been very disappointed with the room.
Tour people were nice
